After three competing games, the NA LCS ended the third weekend in the Spring Season 2018. Three teams in the league are currently ranked at 1st place.
In the opening match of the second day, Echo Fox and OpTic Gaming faced each other. Fox did not allow OpTic any breathing space and ended the week with a win. They lost to CLG the day before and at the end of week three, Team Liquid and Cloud 9 accompanied them at the top spot. OpTic’s Arrow Kog’maw did over 10k damage, but could not save the team from facing a defeat. Team SoloMid took the stage with 100 Thieves immediately after this match. TSM’s Kevin «Hauntzer» Yarnell and Søren «Bjergsen» Bjerg were able to defeat the opponent effectively, who are just now getting wins in the league.
On the first day of the third week, there was a much-anticipated encounter between CLG and Echo Fox. CLG needed a win to remind everyone why they are the closest rival to TSM. Meanwhile, Echo Fox was on a five game winning streak. However, their undefeated streak ended as CLG defeated them with a nuke draft.
TSM is a big favorite to take the competition. The biggest NA franchise changed the few weak spots they had in their squad from last season.
The arrival of Jesper «Zven» Svenningsen and Alfonso «mithy» Aguirre Rodríguez should give them an important boost in quality in the bottom lane. Both players know each other perfectly. They are accustomed to withstanding the pressure of the opposition in the NA region.
On the other hand, they have made a more than necessary change in the jungle. Dennis «Svenskeren» Johnsen showed a level inferior to the rest of the team. In his place, the team signed Mike «MikeYeung» Yeung, a player who comes with the prospect of being one of the future stars of the competition.
Counter Logic Gaming recently defeated one of the league leaders. This should give them a great boost in confidence when facing their rivals on Monday. This was the third win for the side in six games. Therefore, they really need a win in order to push for the title. However, it will be a mountain to climb in terms of stats. In the past seven meetings, TSM has always come out on top. So even history will not favor one of the struggling sides of the NA LCS.
Team SoloMid and Counter Logic Gaming both have three defeats and three victories on the scoreboard. The situation is certainly due to a large number of transfers that have taken place in the last two months, a phenomenon generated by distorting the professional circuit from Riot’s restructuring. In principle, the season is just beginning so there is still enough for things to change.
TSM 1 — 0 CLG
TSM 1.54 – 2.34 CLG
Possibly, Team Liquid has come back stronger this season. The side has made two major changes for two very important positions such as the top and the botlane.
Yiliang «Peter» «Doublelift» Peng has returned to the team after a rather rough departure from the TSM team. The ADC had an opportunity for redemption on the first day of the competition as the teams faced each other in the opening match. Echo Fox was easily defeated.
Golden Guardians, who had not yet won a single league match, fired coach Choi «Locodoco» Yoon-seopon on Friday. To make matters worse for them, they could not escape defeat to Team Liquid over the weekend. Eugene «Pobelter» Park starred with 8-0-4 Azir performance for Liquid.
Echo Fox is one of the teams that has taken advantage of this transfer market. The American team has changed all its members of the squad. Moreover, they have managed to make a very competitive roster to be amongst the top four.
Heo «Huni» Seung-hoonis the great reinforcement of this team for this season. The former SKT player comes to the NA LCS with a desire. The aim of the player is to demonstrate all the potential that he struggled to show last season.
This season the Foxes only lost to CLG last week and currently share first place with the opposition, Team Liquid.
