Home I All Guides I DFS Guides I DFS I DFS Premier League Preview – Week 5
The Saturday slate looks rather thin this week; the return of European football means that a few fixtures have been shunted to Sunday. Not to mention the bizarre idea on the part of broadcasters to move the occasional game to a Friday evening to test participation numbers.
So, we’ll have to make the best of what we’ve got. These three fixtures have made our DFS Premier League Preview for this coming Saturday:
If you haven’t read our Daily Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week guide for September 17 yet then a) what are you playing at and b) you won’t have noticed how prominently this match features in our draft.
We’ve chosen three Manchester City players – David Silva, Kelechi Iheanacho, and John Stones – and the reason for this is simple: we think they will hand Bournemouth a good old fashioned thrashing here.
The Cherries have yielded 16 shots on target already this term, and bearing in mind they have played against the less-than trigger happy West Brom and Crystal Palace, that is alarmingly high.
The most goals that Bournemouth has scored in a single game is one. In this clash they probably won’t see enough of the ball to even challenge the City net.
So Stones will keep his clean sheet, Iheanacho will score, and Silva will be involved in key phases of play in the attacking third.
City are scoring at a rate of almost three goals per game (11 in 4). Last season they handed out 4-0 and 5-1 canings to Bournemouth. That is an indicator of the carnage that could unfold on Saturday.
At this time, there is perhaps no more entertaining team in the division than Everton, so it is only right that they form a key part of our DFS Premier League Preview for Week 5.
With seven goals scored in four outings they certainly aren’t shy in attacking areas under Ronald Koeman, and no team in the EPL has fired more shots on target than the Toffees: a huge 31 in total, or 7.75 per game. With Romelu Lukaku finding his shooting boots, that means goals are not far away.
That attractiveness should mesh well with Middlesbrough, who also play the game in the right way even if their run of results doesn’t necessarily reflect that. They generally score one and concede another in every game. Although it will be interesting to see how that ratio will be stretched and manipulated by this free-flowing Everton side.
Middlesbrough also hasn’t beaten Everton in seven attempts – with the Merseysiders winning five of those – and so clearly the omens are with the boys in blue this week. Make sure your draft reflects this.
To the purist, this might not seem like a particularly enthralling match, but for the erstwhile Daily Fantasy enthusiast, this should offer plenty of drafting potential and ultimately that is the key to this DFS Premier League Preview.
West Brom are grimly predictable: they win some, they lose some, and they draw plenty of others. But they are never easy to beat and very rarely do they lose significantly.
Compare and contrast that to West Ham, who have lost three of their four games this season. Each of these witnessed three or more goals. They have conceded nine goals thus far – only Stoke has shipped more.
Styles make fights, as the boxing fraternity says, and this clash bears all the hallmarks of a real ‘anything goes’ slobberknocker. If West Brom can get their act together they can get the W here. And that will provide some very tasty-priced sleepers for your draft.
