With three of our past Daily Fantasy Premier League Teams of the Week finding the net for the September 10 slate of matches, we’re feeling pretty good heading into this week’s action.
The European commitments in midweek means that the 3pm GMT slate this coming Saturday is rather thin on the ground with only five matches to choose from. But if we’re canny with our selections then we may just find some low-drafted picks that can score big.
Our selection of Stekelenburg of Everton FC this week is more a process of elimination as anything else.
Our two other viable candidates for the job, Claudio Bravo and Kasper Schmeichel, both have their flaws. Bravo was much maligned for his performance in the Manchester derby last week and his Man City side have conceded in all four of the Premier League matches that they have played.
Kasper Schmeichel, meanwhile, plays for a Leicester side in a state of flux at the moment. They have conceded in 75% of their outings to date, and after shipping four last week at Liverpool, things look a little fragile defensively for the Foxes.
Everton has kept two clean sheets in a row, and they should win against Bournemouth this weekend (meaning the Dutch shot stopper picks up those crucial ‘goalkeeper win’ points) and — quite possibly – keep their sheet clean once again.
Expensive for a defender but generally worth every penny. Leighton Baines is an integral part of the attacking philosophy at Everton under Ronald Koeman. He should bag plenty of points as a result.
If the defenders we selected in our Daily Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week are able to score points at both ends of the pitch then we are laughing, and Baines’ 6.9 FPPG is indicative of a player that contributes in attack and defense.
With four shots on goal, twelve successful tackles, and five interceptions already this term, the left back should do well on Saturday.
He was cheap and *should* keep a clean sheet – those are the two reasons why we have drafted John Stones this week.
His Manchester City side come up against a Bournemouth outfit that scored just three goals in four games, and Stones should help to break down any counter attacks the Cherries launch with well-timed tackles and interceptions.
Stones is our goober this week, but a class act nonetheless.
A key part of the Everton revolution has been Kevin Mirallas, an outstanding talent but one who went AWOL in 2015/16. Under Ronald Koeman’s stewardship, he is warming to his task once again.
A return of 13.1 FPPG highlights his consistency so far, and a goal, an assist, three crosses, and six fouls will identify a player in stellar form.
There are midfielders priced at $2,000 more than Mirallas that aren’t fit to lace his boots here!
We shall be watching Nacer Chadli’s progress with interest this term. The attacking midfielder has the ability to be a fantastic sleeper in your draft, and this week he comes up against a West Ham side that have shipped nine goals in four games and are yielding 6.00 shots on target every 90 minutes.
Chadli joins West Brom with a fine record from his time vs the Spurs, where he has netted 19 goals and recorded 11 assists in less than three seasons.
The young striker with an outstanding reputation for finding the net did that in his first ‘gut check’ as a Manchester City player; they don’t come much bigger than the Mancunian derby.
Iheanacho scored a priceless goal for his side to extend his own fine record of scoring once per 90 minutes. With Sergio Aguero suspended, he will have the chance to increase that tally against a porous Bournemouth backline.
After an injured start to the campaign, Lukaku is very much back in business after his hat-trick fired Everton to their 3-0 win over Sunderland on Monday night.
The good news for DFS managers is that he is a striker that tends to be streaky. He bagged nine goals in eight games at one point last season, and three in four at another. So clearly the Belgian is fancied to bag again on Saturday.
The Manchester City revolution is well underway courtesy of Pep Guardiola’s astute management. And perhaps the biggest beneficiary has been David Silva.
The tiny Spaniard has recorded a very handsome 14.1 FPPG so far this term. That is because he is being given the freedom to express himself in attacking areas. Surrounded by the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Nolito and Aguero/Iheanacho, how can he not enjoy himself?
