The 2017 season of FaZe Clan will not go unnoticed in the history of the club, especially after incorporating Nikola «NiKo» Kovač. The later addition of Ladislav «GuardiaN» Kovács and Olof «olofmeister» Kajbjer Gustafsson turned the karrigan set into one of the most fearsome on the planet. In 2017, the French side proclaimed themselves champions of the ECS Season 4, held in Mexico, while also rising alongside SK Gaming as the best team in the world.
The final was against mousesports and was an exciting best-of-three match. The first map, Nuke, fell in favor of the mouz, who ended the match on 16-14. Inferno, the second map, had a double overtime, ending in favor of FaZe on 22-18. The third map was Mirage and was quite fierce, ending in overtime, 19-17 FaZe Clan.
With this title, they close an almost unbeatable year in which they also conquered the StarSeries. They also won the ESL One of New York and the ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier. The second place in the IEM Katowice, Sydney and Oakland further boosted the confidence level of the team. They also claimed the 2nd spot in the past at ECS S3 and in the recent ESL Pro League 6.
Nikola «NiKo» Kovacs scored 40 kills in the group stage match of Esports Championship Series Season 4 vs. Team Liquid. The meeting was held on the map of Mirage and lasted 28 rounds. The map ended with a victory in the hands of FaZe Clan. As reported by HLTV, NiKo managed to surpass Spaniard Xavi «Aguila» Kasala Sabi, who in 2012 was able to make 39 kills.
FaZe also beat Liquid in the Final of ESL ONE New York 2017 with a score of 3-0. Looking at the current form of FaZe they will surely see off Team Liquid in style.
It is without a doubt to say that FaZe Clan are in a dominating form. Their recent performance has shown that the team is united to take on any major tournament. By the look of the things, the ball will be in the court of FaZe Clan as they are determined to take their first tournament of 2018.
FaZe Clan 1 — 0 Team Liquid
FaZe Clan 1.25 — 3.55 Team Liquid
Professional poker player Fedor Holtz acquired part of the shares of the cyber-sports organization Team EnVyUs. The amount that the 24-year-old German invested was not disclosed. Holtz is the most successful German poker player. In his career, he earned more than $27 million in prize money.
Recall that in September this year Team EnVyUs received the support of another major investor. The Hersh family, led by oil and natural gas magnate Kenneth Hersh, invested about $35 million in the e-sports organization.
Team EnvyUS most recently beat Cloud9 in the group stages of the ELeague Premier. However, the French side lost to FaZe in the Quarterfinals, while Cloud9 was knocked out of the semis by Astralis. In 2017, Team EnVyUs won the WESG 2016: Finals and the DreamHack Open Atlanta 2017.
In 2017, with energetic performances from Tarik «tarik» Celik and Will «RUSH» Wierzba, Cloud 9 won iBUYPOWER Masters 2017, DreamHack Open Denver 2017, and the Americas Minor Championship — Kraków 2017. They also managed a second place finish at the ESL One: Cologne 2017. So, the side of Cloud9 will be looking to start the year on a high note.
The side will be dependent on the expertise of Timothy «autimatic» Ta for victory. The player has completed over 650 maps as a professional and has a respectable K/D ratio of 1.11, while inflicting 82.6 damage per round. Having so much pro experience at the age of just 21 shows how crucial he is for C9.
Cloud9 had a decent journey in the past year. They will be more determined this year to take on the competition. It looks like they can already feel the heat and will do anything to take on their opponent. On the other hand, Team EnVyUS is also thirsty for a win. They did manage to put up a fight against Natus Vincere in their latest matchup. However, time wasn’t with them and they lost the semi-finals of the DreamHack Open Winter 2017.
Nevertheless, this is a best-of-one series and anything can happen between the two teams. But by analyzing the recent performance of both the teams, it seems like Cloud9 is on a better end than Team EnVyUS.
C9 1 — 0 Team EnVyUS
Cloud 9 1.50 — 2.40 Team EnVyUS
