ESL Pro League will return for its 7th season. The league’s prize pool will again be worth $1 million. Moreover, the tournament will resume for seven weeks until it reaches the May finals. However, there will still be a change in the course of the EPL. Two teams, Misfits and CLG, have not renewed their Pro League licenses, so the number of participants in the North American Division will be 12.
Although there has been no change in the relegation system, this will affect the finals. Moreover, the organizers will be announcing the changes to the league in the next few days. The league structure will be re-evaluated for Season 8 this year. It should be kept in mind that ESL will return to the 14-team format.
Cloud9 has been on fire in 2018. They have finally managed to find the much-needed chemistry that was lacking last year. In January, the side won the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018. In the ESL Pro League, they have played only one series, which they tied 1-1 with SK Gaming.
The team is managing to find consistency which could help them in the long run. They are surely one of the favorite sides to take home the ESL Pro League title this season. The Americans had an average run in the IEM Katowice. Cloud 9, after their famous victory in the group stage against SK, lost to FaZe Clan in the quarterfinals. Rest assured they should be victorious against Optic Gaming.
The CS:GO side of Optic Gaming is having the worst start to 2018. The side failed to qualify for the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018. After that, the team didn’t participate in the CS_Summit 2. Moreover, they withdrew from the qualifiers of the IEM Katowice without stating any reasons. They haven’t had much competitive action so far in 2018. By the looks of it, they are destined for a very hard season in the ESL Pro League.

A few day ago, SK Gaming was eliminated from the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive IEM Katowice 2018. The Brazilian team faced the Americans of Cloud9 for a spot in the competition qualifiers. However, they ended up losing the dispute by 2 maps to 1.
The clash began with a score of 16 to 9 in Cache, but in favor of the Brazilians. Cloud9 responded in Mirage, taking the map 16 rounds to 12. The decision was taken to Inferno, where the match closed at 16 to 13 in favor of the Americans.
This was the eighth time that SK and Cloud9 have faced each other this year. The Americans have gotten the better 6 times, while the Brazilians left with the victory on 2 occasions.
In ESL, SK has played 2 series: one against Cloud9 and the other against Luminosity Gaming. The side has tied both of its series and is currently ranked at 6th place. They will surely be looking to beat Team Liquid who have yet to play a game in the ESL League this season.
The current performance of the side shows they will be somewhat difficult to beat. Recently, Liquid ended their IEM Katowice campaign at a very respectable 4th place. The side lost to Fnatic 2-0 in the semis after beating NiP in the quarterfinals.
