The sixth season of the ESL Pro League is in full swing and on Wednesday, a lot of matches await you. Both the European and North American leagues are anticipating some incredible action that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The matches are played in the best-of-1 format and for the Swedish segment, we will see both NiP and Fnatic. Fnatic tops the entire table, followed by North and FaZe. NiP, in turn, can be found in 11th place out a total of 14 teams.
When we look at the North American segment, we see a series of familiar faces at the top. Namely OpTic Gaming, where former NiP player Adam «friberg» Friberg leads his team. In second place, we are not shocked to see neither Cloud9 or SK Gaming, since Misfits have been on fire. Brazilian giant SK is in third place while Cloud9 sits at seventh.
WESL and ESL announced Wednesday that Immortals will be able to make an emergency transfer to compete in the ESL qualifier.
The team is out of date due to the departure of Vito «kNgV-» Giuseppe, while the request to go to the bench from the brothers Henrique «HEN1» and Lucas «LUCAS1» Teles doesn’t make things easier. Because of the unexpected situation at the moment, Team Immortals was granted the right to make another transfer in addition to the two already allowed by WESA.
According to the official publication, the decision was made to limit the number of transfers. It meant that no more than two were possible early in the league’s sixth season. However, the regulation did not include exceptions in case of emergencies.
Initially, the Immortals’ lineup in the Pro League was composed of seven players: kNg, HEN1, LUCAS1, Ricardo «boltz» Prass, Lucas «steel»Lopes, coach Rafael «Zakk» Fernandes, and the reserve player was João «Horvy» Horvath. Using two of its transfers, the team entered the competition with Bruno «shz» Martinelli and Lucas «deStiny» Bullo, who were loaned by Tempo Storm. According to the coach, shz and deStiny will play with the team until the organization reaches a decision on the line-up.
Immortals currently sit at 12th place with 11 points, having won three and lost nine matches in the process. Since the players in the lineup are not familiar with each other, they will have a tough time against the team in first place, OpTic Gaming.
OpTic Gaming has moved into another season of dominating the ESL Pro League. They have shown impressive teamwork and superb accuracy in firefights against top-tier teams.
They now stand at the top of the rankings for the ESL Pro League in North America, with 33 points. Out of 14 matches played, they’ve won 11 and lost just 3.
The last week was both good and bad for OpTic Gaming. They started out with a good win against compLexity Gaming, and then went on to win against Renegades as well.
Unfortunately, the week also handed OpTic Gaming one of their three losses, which happened against Renegades on the last game they played during the week.
They’re still at the top of the league ladder despite their loss to Renegades. Of course, OpTic Gaming, Splyce, and Ghost Gaming have played more matches than many of the other teams.
Immortals have been having their own troubles – as we all know. Will they be able to take a strong stand against OpTic with their hastily put together roster? Highly unlikely. OpTic are going to steamroll Immortals.
2-0 OpTic Gaming
OpTic Gaming 1.33 – 2.25 Immortals
Team Liquid is in second place entering the fourth week of play with raised market value. In the past two weeks, Peter «stanislaw» Jarguz & Co. reached two grand finals (ESG Mykonos, ESL One New York). On their road to the finals, they managed to beat top teams in BO3s (SK twice, Astralis). Have the US boys finally evolved from the tier-two waters to take their first steps on land among the elite teams? Possibly!
This Liquid roster certainly seems like they are here to stay. After bringing in Russel «Twistzz» Van Dulken, the pieces fit just right. Hopefully, they can regularly challenge and beat the big boys in the matches to come.
Team Liquid is doing well in the ESL Pro League. They draw their first two best-of-one matches against SK and Ghost Gaming. However, in their matches against Counter Logic, NRG Esports, and Luminosity Gaming, they draw only one series. Team Liquid established a three-game winning streak and we won’t be surprised if they make five-game streak after meeting against compLexity. They currently sit at 5th place with 21 points, having seven wins and three losses. They are surely going to get an invite to the finals in Odense, Denmark, if they continue to play this consistently.
The opposition of Liquid is arguably one of the worst sides in the league. CompLexity currently sits at 13th place with only a 20%-win percentage. They won their first league series against Rogue, 2-0. However, since then, they have failed to win a single game. They lost to SK, Renegades, OpTic, and Luminosity Gaming. Their next opponent is a surging Team Liquid side so earning a draw might be a fairytale story for the side.
2-0 Team Liquid
compLexity 3.33 – 1.20 Team Liquid
