The absurd success of PUBG took the game to a new level of simultaneous players on Steam. The new number reached is 2 million players online at the same time.

Two years ago, DotA 2 was the first game to break the record of 1 million players online on Steam. This number was achieved by PUBG in just under 1 month.
The online game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (or PUBG), recorded a peak of more than 859 thousand simultaneous players. It surpassed DotA 2 and became the most played game on Steam, the main gaming platform for PC.
With the feat, the multiplayer game that kills off 100 players in a battle to the death has stirred a storm. The style of «Greedy Games» has also outperformed the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players. The biggest peak previously recorded on Steam was by DotA 2, with 1.29 million players online on a day in 2016.
