Home I eSports I Events & Matches I LCK Spring Split 2018 Betting Preview
This season will include King’s Dragon X (formerly Longjing Gaming), which won the 2017 LCK Summer Split. Also joining them are the LoL World Champions KSV (formerly Samsung Galaxy), SK Telecom T1, and KT Rolster. On the list of 10 teams, we also have bbq Olivers and Kongdoo Monster. These teams have successfully advanced to the LCK along with Jin Air Green Wings.
The 2017 World League of Legends tournament ended with a final between two Korean teams, where Samsung Galaxy took revenge against SK Telecom T1. The side won the title of World Champions for the second time after their initial success in 2014. So, with great interest, the LCK starts again with the Korean championship hosting the best players in the world. Ten teams joined in a single round group with Bo3 matches. At the end of the regular season, the top five will compete in the playoffs to decree the League Champion, while the last two will have to fight to avoid losing their places. Let’s have a look at some of the matches in the most dominant league in competitive LoL.
Green Wings saw a 2017 season with less than average performances and 2018, in terms of the squad that will be put on the field, does not appear to promise much more. It is quite evident that the arrival of Kwon «Wraith» Ji-min alone cannot provide stability in terms of results, especially as the squad is full of not-so-special players: Yoon «Justice» Seok-Joon, just to name one. He has been on the bench for a year and has yet to fight for the right to play his first professional match.
SK Telecom T1 (SKT) played three games against Jin Air Green Wings (JAG) in the 2018 LCK Spring Regular season. The final map went on for 94 minutes and 40 seconds to break the record for the longest game in the world. Moreover, Park «Teddy» Jin-seong caught Lee «Faker» Sang-hyeok 1v1 and killed his Kassadin to end the stalemate of more than an hour and a half.
JAG has come all the way from the poor and suffering to the super big late comeback. The players were ecstatic after the match was over, and Teddy was also voted as the MVP. He said in an interview that they had waited for SKT to make a mistake after losing the two towers of the inhibitor. However, they did not win until Kallis took hold of Kassadin.
MVP LoL had some success in 2017, but in reality, they have never been convincing. This year the situation looks even worse. Returning in the top five, and then a defeat in the playoffs, it seems like a tough feat for a team without real stars. If it wasn’t for the brilliance of Oh «MaHa» Hyun-sik, the team would not been even this successful. Currently the team is without infamy: decent ADC but not enough to compete at a high level. The personality will be strongly missed.
A quiet season awaits them: weak with the strong and vice versa.

In 2017 the super team was expected to win not only the LCK, but the whole World Championship. Titles won: one, the least important. Their participation in the World Championship was a mirage that quickly turned into a massacre against SK Telecom. The predictions for 2018 have not changed: should we expect the same results? Probably not. KT has always been among the first in the standings and are always fighting. However, they haven’t achieved much. Consistency is what Song «Smeb» Kyung-ho, Go «Score» Dong-bin, Heo «PawN» Won-seok, Kim «Deft» Hyuk-kyu, and Cho «Mata» Se-hyeong need. That was demonstrated in the KeSPA Cup, the only trophy won in 2017.
They remain among the top three Korean teams. In addition, they have the honor of bringing the Olympic flame to the streets of Seoul for the PyeongChang Winter Games.
The Korean team needs a change of image after the failure of the organization during the Worlds final.
For this, the first step was to accelerate the exit operation of the players. One of the first was Han «Peanut» Wang-ho. The jungler was the great signing of last season by the Korean team. However, his performance was not as expected and both parties decided to separate their paths.
The other exit was made from the top lane. Heo «Huni» Seung-hoon, one of the most dominant players on this team, had been treated very poorly by the squad. Pressured to play tanks, the top-laner dropped his usual level and has been criticized for some of his performances.
So after the cleanup, the squad of the former World Champions was composed of Park «Untara» Ui-jin, Kang «Blank» Sun-gu, Lee «Faker» Sang-hyeok, Bae «Bang» Jun-sik, and Lee «Wolf» Jae-wan. Without a doubt, it is a team of brilliance to face any competition. However, they need reinforce the weak points of last season.
A team like SKT usually has a wide range of players in order to win all the matches that the competition has. For this objective, the Korean set scouted several top players for the jungle and the top.
At the end, they have made two new signings: Park «Thal» Kwon-hyuk, and Park «Blossom» Beom-chan.
The first comes from competing for the Red Bull team in the European Challenger Series, a team that did not manage to make a dent in the top tier competition.
On the other hand, Blossom will come to the team to occupy the position of the jungle. He is a veteran player who has been competing since 1999. He will arrive, almost with complete certainty, as a substitute for Blank.
These new stars will take time to make a name for themselves in the SK Telecom T1 squad. So, now it’s time for Faker to show what he is made of.
