Home I eSports I eSports I Midas Mode Details Released
Midas Mode — This is primarily not a tournament on the dot, but an economic game. Each team in the reserve will have a certain amount of virtual currency — MoonBucks. Participants spend these MoobBucks on everything: the choice and ban of heroes, the choice of the party, even to put a pause, they will have to pay.
Each hero will have his own cost, which will be calculated depending on the popularity and success of the hero. The better the hero, the more MoonBucks will have to lay out for him.
From match to match, the cost of heroes will change. To assist you with everything, Alan «Nahaz» Bester (a professor of economics, by the way) will work on the calculations.
To do this, participants will perform tasks from the community and the organizers. This can be anything: from the original peak of only flying heroes or victories from Techies or even using a random player as a substitute. The tasks will change every few days, and the organizers plan to collect proposals at the Reddit forum. And for additional earnings, teams can always bet on any match except their own.
Midas Mode is a great way to get distracted from bored heroes, standard peaks, and boring games. The teams were pleased to accept invitations to the tournament though they didn’t have an idea of the prize fund and other participants in the championship. Given the current list of participants, this championship can bypass the interest even Perfect World Masters.
American and European teams will play in individual leagues. Each region will determine its own champion Midas Mode.
Four teams start with the group stage robin round. All participants will play against each other with a series of up to two wins. The team which has scored the least points at this stage, will leave the tournament. The team in first place will go immediately to the final. The remaining two participants will meet in the semi-finals, where in the best-of-three series we will find out the fate of the second slot in the grand finale.
In case of an equal number of points, the organizers will take into account the number of matches won and lost. Then the history of meetings with other teams will be compared. If all these parameters are equal, then the higher place will be given to the participant with a greater number of MoonBucks. Money is everything!
More details will be announced soon. What is known is the team’s line-up and we have some great names: Evil Geniuses, Immortals, Digital Chaos, and OpTiC for NA and Liquid, OG, NaVi, and Mid or Feed for EU.
Midas Mode was announced initially in February. However, it was anticipated that the tournament would be scheduled for April. But the calendar now foresees the start of the tournament in November, in the time span from the 18th to the 28th.
