Home I All Guides I DFS Guides I DFS I Week 4 Daily Fantasy Football
Believe it or not, Week 4 marks the quarter point of the 2016 NFL Season. Week 4 Daily Fantasy Football also starts the beginning of the dreaded BYE week. First up on the BYE weeks are the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
That means Daily Fantasy Football players will have to wait a week until they can plug in Rookie phenom Carson Wentz. After outplaying Big Ben and the Steelers and throwing for 301 yards with two touchdowns, Wentz has been the talk of not only the early NFL season, but of Daily Fantasy Football players all over. Putting up 24 fantasy points in Week 3, how long can he remain at $5,500? My guess is that his price will rise significantly for Week 5 vs the Lions. Enough about Wentz for now. There are plenty of exciting match ups to talk about so lets get into our Week 4 Daily Fantasy Football Preview!
Coming off an embarrassing performance in Week 3 where Cam Newton threw for zero touchdowns and 3 INTs, I expect Cam and the Panthers to take out their anger all over the Falcons defense, which is ranked 31/32 on DraftKings against quarterbacks. The Falcons Defense has allowed 26.5, 25.4, 29.9 to QBs in the first three weeks and I expect Cam to surpass all 3 of those totals. I don’t think this game will be close and 3 points should be covered by the 2nd quarter in a redemption game for the Panthers.
Players I like in this game:
Now I know Cam Newton isn’t cheap coming in at $7,800 this week, but I have Cam as my number 1 QB for week 4, making him worth the money. Cam should be able to move the ball at will against the leaky Falcon defense. I expect him to have 4 total touchdowns minimum in this matchup of NFC South teams.
Benjamin was held without a catch last week after putting up back-to-back strong games. You have to think the the Panthers will look to get him involved early and often after only being targeted once last week. Atlanta has struggled against the pass so far this season and I expect this to continue in Week 4.
The Panthers’ stack should be an interesting one this weekend. Olsen continues to be the focus of the Panthers’ offense after being targeted 10 times last week. The Falcons are ranked 32/32 against Tight Ends this season. So I expect the veteran to visit the end zone at least once, which makes for a good play this week.
After an underwhelming performance on Monday night where he caught only 1 ball for 16 yards, you have to figure he will bounce back. He is Julio Jones after all. The Panther secondary is not what they were last year after losing Josh Norman. At home I expect Julio to go over 100 yards and score at least 1 TD.
The Colts and Jaguars are heading across the pond this week. This weeks match up will be played in the iconic Wembley Stadium in London. Unlike most games played there, I expect scoring to be up and defense to be optional. Both teams like to throw the ball and both have plenty of question marks on the other side of the ball. I expect this to be a shootout and fans in London should get ready for a great game.
After opening the 2016 season with 38 fantasy points, Luck has combined for only 30 points over the last 2 games. Luck has thrown the ball an average of 41 times per game this season and for that reason, you have to play him. The Jaguars are ranked 22/32 against quarterbacks this season. I can see Luck being a top 5 QB this week.
Just as we predicted last week, T.Y went off against the Chargers with his teammate Donte Moncrief injured. I expect this to continue this week against the Jaguars. T.Y was targeted 11 times last week as he continues to see double digit targets weekly.
In what has been an awful start for the Jaguars and Bortles himself, this might be the matchup he needs to start looking like the fantasy stud he was in 2015. The Colts defense has made a habit of making QBs look good and I expect this to be no different in London.
It was only a matter of time until Allen Robinson got going. After two bad games to start the season, Robinson visited the end zone twice in Week 3 for a total of 24.7 fantasy points. After breaking out in 2015, I expect Robinson to continue where he left off last week and have a monster day.
After scoring 10 touchdowns in 2015, fantasy players got used to penciling in Hurns for what seemed like a touchdown every week. That has not been the case in 2016. Hurns has yet to score a TD and has yet to surpass 11 fantasy points. I think this is the week Hurns scores his first touchdown in what should be a very high scoring game in London.
From a football fans perspective this game isn’t a must watch by any means, but as a Daily Fantasy Football player, this game screams points. A matchup of two awful teams with two awful defenses is always fun. I expect plenty of points to be scored and little to no resistance by either defense.
Stafford seems to be one with the road in 2016. In his first two road games of the year, he has put up 29 and 30 points. In a matchup on the road this week vs the pathetic Bears defense, I expect Stafford to be a top 5 QB this week.
Coming off a career high 205 yards receiving last week vs the Packers, expect Jones to do much of the same vs the Bears’ secondary, who have shown they have more holes than Swiss cheese. While I don’t expect Jones to go for 200 yards again, I think it’s safe to pencil him in for at least 100. Jones has been the focal point of the Lions passing attack, and I expect this to stay the same in Week 4.
Golden Tate seems to be the odd man out early in the 2016 season. Tate has yet to score a touchdown and hasn’t been seeing the targets that he was used to after a big 2015 campaign. His price is low and I expect him to get things going this week in a juicy matchup with the Bears.
No, this is not a mistake. Based on value alone I think Hoyer is a good play this week. Coming in at only $5,000, Hoyer should be throwing the ball plenty on Sunday. He threw the ball 49 times last week for 22 fantasy points — I expect him to be around that number this week. For that price, that is enough points to take the risk.
Expecting the Bears to be down yet again, I can easily see Alshon getting 10+ targets, resulting in a big fantasy day at home vs the Lions. He has yet to break out in 2016 with only an average of 14 points over the first three games. I think a date with the Lions will bring the big game out of him. Look for Alshon to have a 100 yards and a score.
Good defense is hard to come by. It definitely won’t be found anywhere on the field on Sunday in San Diego. In the highest over/under of the week at 53.5, this game has all the makings for a high scoring shootout. In a matchup of two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, I am focusing more on the running game. Coming off a dreadful performance on Monday night, the Saints allowed over 200 yards rushing to the Falcons. This can only mean good things for Melvin Gordon, who has scored in all 3 games this season. Drew Brees usually struggles on the road compared to his success at home in the dome. At his price of $7,600, I think there are plenty of other options at the QB position in Week 4 daily fantasy football.
Whether its allowing 200 yards rushing in week 3 or almost 400 yards passing in Week 2, the Saints flat out are incapable of playing defense. At a reasonable price of $6,900 you must get Rivers into your lineups.
Did I mention the Saints allowed over 200 yards rushing last week? Gordon is a must play this week with the best matchup of all running backs in Week 4. While I don’t think he will have 200 yards, you can almost bet, baring any injury, he should have at least 100 and for that price I will take it and so will you.
Coming off his first big game of 2016, I expect Ingram to keep it going against a Chargers defense, which also struggles against the run. The Chargers are ranked 27/32 against the run this year and the Saints are realizing they need a run game to win. I expect Ingram to see a decent work load making him an interesting play at San Diego on Sunday.
Kirk Cousins vs Browns ($6,500)
Joe Flacco vs Raiders ($5,900)
C.J Anderson @ Buccaneers ($6,500)
Isaiah Crowell @ Redskins ($4,400)
Terrelle Pryor Sr. @Redskins ($4,300)
DeSean Jackson vs Browns ($6,200)
Dennis Pitta vs Raiders ($3,900)
Cameron Brate vs Broncos ($2,800)
Redskins ($3,500) vs Browns
Seahawks ($3,800) @ Jets
